About Unseen Guest

Brendan MurphyonTuesday, July 11, 2023 Unseen Guest began at St. Timothy’s when Ellen Crawley moved to Greenville and brought the idea from her church in Wilmington. It began with a few members and has grown to 6 teams with 4 or 5 members each. Each team has a captain that receives information from the captain before them outlining who they served and then contacts their team members to see who can contact those who may be in need.At the end of the week, that captain sends an email to the next captain on the list letting them know who they served and if they know of anyone in need of a meal. The idea is to bring a meal to someone who is home from the hospital, someone who recently had a baby, lost a family member or is not feeling well. The meal can be cooked by a team member, purchased or taken from the parish hall freezer. The person agreeing to take the meal contacts the parishioner and arranges a time to deliver and discusses if there are dietary issues. On occasion, more than one meal may be delivered to the same person(s), depending on the need. We are fortunate to have a template for a yearly calendar for this ministry and originally prepared by Marie Cooper.Megan Roberts has completed this template for Unseen Guest for the last two years.Prior to that, Frank Crawley prepared a calendar for the ministry. The Chair of Unseen Guest should be copied on the emails from Captains, make sure there is a calendar for the next year and help to fill vacancies, if needed. If a captain is to be away during their team’s week to serve, they appoint another team member to receive emails and then forward the information to the next captain. Other responsibilities of the Chair are to send a brief report to the assigned recipient (vestry member) for inclusion in the vestry monthly reports. A report should be submitted for the annual meeting, usually in November. A chair for this ministry is needed. If you are interested, please contact Mary Vincent at 252-347-6826. The captains are exceptionally good about communicating with each other and are willing to help whenever needed.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP RECORD SERVICES?

Brendan MurphyonTuesday, July 11, 2023 We are inviting anyone in the congregation to join the A/V team (which currently consists of Peter Woodruff, Bryan Bell and Marie Cooper) to learn thebasicsfor recording our weekly 10:15 church service. This will not be a course in electronics but only learning simple maneuvers such as turning the system on/of, movement of cameras, zooming in/out, checking that sound is set correctly and then staying alert to movements during the service so as to capture what we want people to view and experience while participating in our online service. We try to take turns with filling this function each week but we need more people to make this a dependable ministry and would love to have you join us. You would need to arrive at church no later than 9:50 -10am to get the system turned on and ready to go by 10:15. If you’re interested please contact either Peter or Marie.
