Community Partners

In our effort to be a resource for the community, St Timothy’s seeks every opportunity possible to share our resources with those in need as well as other people and organizations that share our mission and values.

Joy Soup Kitchen

The primary focus of the Jesus, Others and You (JOY) Soup Kitchen is to deal with food insecurity by providing meals to the poor and homeless in the community. JOY Soup Kitchen serves over 3,900 free, nutritious, hot midday and evening meals per month to individuals and families with children. For some, this may be their only meal of the day.
St. Timothy’s supports the JOY Soup Kitchen ministry both with regularly scheduled volunteers and with donations of food items and dollars. For more information about the St. Timothy Joy Soup Kitchen ministry support, contact office@st-tim.org

Community Crossroads Center

Starting as a shelter for men only, the Community Crossroads Center (CCC) has evolved into an emergency shelter for men, women, and children; and a permanent supportive housing program for those who are disabled. CCC helps people turn their lives around by giving them hope and a desire for a better quality of life 365 days per year.

The Mission of CCC is to “serve the homeless and those at risk of homelessness by providing safe housing, and assisting them in developing a long term plan that leads to self-sufficiency.” Visit www.communitycrossroadscenter.org for more information.

St. Timothy’s is one of over 43 churches and individuals who help to provide meals for up to 100 residents at the shelter. Six teams of St. Tim’s parishioners rotate through a schedule to provide dinner on the first, third and fifth Thursday of each month. Team members bear the cost of the food, prepare the meal off-site and then serve residents at the shelter kitchen.

Scouting

With over 100 combined scouts active with our Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts programs, scouting is easily one of our most important and popular ministries here at St. Timothy’s.

Pitt County Schools

Pitt County Schools is a dynamic, thriving public school system, insistent on continued growth that results in tangible, real-world success for our students, the youth of our community. As leaders, we set sustainable goals based on real data and real experiences and follow up with real analysis and adjustments. Our internal stakeholders (educators, leaders, support staff) are just as vital to student success as our external stakeholders (parents, businesses, organizations, community members). As our logo creatively conveys, education in the 21st century requires a foundational, layered approach, and we understand that we are stronger together. Our ultimate goal is to identify what our students need, remove barriers, utilize our system’s and our community’s resources, and rely on our professional collaboration and training to create healthy environments and to clear pathways for all students to grow and to become successful. Pitt County Schools currently serves more than 24,000 students in 38 schools and is continuing to see annual growth in its student population.

Tedi Bear Child Advocacy

The TEDI BEAR Children’s Advocacy Center is the largest children’s advocacy center in North Carolina and is accredited to provide a full spectrum of assessment, treatment, education, and prevention to for children up to 18 years old who may have been victims of child abuse or neglect.

There are two ways you can help. 1.) Attend a Stewards of Children training to help learn to prevent, recognize, and respond to child sexual abuse 2.) Donate stuffed animals, playdooh, or markers to the center. Every child that comes to TEDI BEAR chooses a stuffed animal to take with them. Animals can be ‘gently used’ but should look and smell clean. Playdooh and markers are used during forensic interviews and must be continually replaced. Donations can be dropped off at the center M-F, 8am-5pm.

Register for one of their monthly Stewards of Children trainings on their ‘training and tours’ tab of their website. Feel free to contact Kia Glosson at glossonk15@ecu.edu with any questions.
