Outreach

In our effort to be a resource for the community, St Timothy’s seeks every opportunity possible to share our resources with those in need as well as other people and organizations that share our mission and values.

Joy Soup Kitchen

The primary focus of the Jesus, Others and You (JOY) Soup Kitchen is to deal with food insecurity by providing meals to the poor and homeless in the community. JOY Soup Kitchen serves over 3,900 free, nutritious, hot midday and evening meals per month to individuals and families with children. For some, this may be their only meal of the day.
St. Timothy’s supports the JOY Soup Kitchen ministry both with regularly scheduled volunteers and with donations of food items and dollars. For more information about the St. Timothy Joy Soup Kitchen ministry support, contact office@st-tim.org

Greenville Community Shelter

Starting as a shelter for men only, the Greenville Community Shelter has evolved into an emergency shelter for men, women, and children; and a permanent supportive housing program for those who are disabled. Greenville Community Shelter helps people turn their lives around by giving them hope and a desire for a better quality of life 365 days per year.

The Mission of Greenville Community Shelter is to “serve the homeless and those at risk of homelessness by providing safe housing, and assisting them in developing a long term plan that leads to self-sufficiency.” Visit https://www.greenvillecommunityshelter.org/ for more information.

St. Timothy’s is one of over 43 churches and individuals who help to provide meals for up to 100 residents at the shelter. Six teams of St. Tim’s parishioners rotate through a schedule to provide dinner on the first, third and fifth Thursday of each month. Team members bear the cost of the food, prepare the meal off-site and then serve residents at the shelter kitchen.

Operation Sunshine

St. Timothy’s volunteers on Tuesdays throughout the school year at
Operation Sunshine from 4pm-5pm.

We collect fruit on the second Sunday of the month for the girls at Operation Sunshine September through May.

Operation Sunshine has been a safe, nurturing home away from home for girls in Pitt County since 1968. We serve girls ages 5 to 13, providing affordable afterschool programming that enables them to grow academically, build confidence, develop strong character, and discover what they are truly capable of.

Our girls receive daily homework help and tutoring, build meaningful relationships with caring mentors, and enjoy enriching experiences that open their eyes to a world of possibilities. Every girl who walks through our doors is seen, supported, and celebrated.

Scouting

With over 100 combined scouts active with our Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts programs, scouting is easily one of our most important and popular ministries here at St. Timothy’s.

Interfaith Refugee Ministry

Interfaith Refugee Ministry is a dedicated to helping refugees rebuild their lives in eastern North Carolina. Our task is to assist refugees with the basic necessities when they first arrive in New Bern and surrounding areas. This includes, but is not limited to, assistance with housing, food, clothing, employment, learning English, and cultural orientation.

The ultimate goal is to help refugees become self-reliant, emotionally secure and culturally adjusted in their new home.

Each year, Interfaith Refugee Ministry resettles new refugee families from around the world. Our staff, working with volunteers, civic groups and faith communities, ensures each refugee will receive basic initial support as they begin a new life in a strange land. We try to provide a bridge for these persecuted people who are coming out of the darkness of a shattered life into the bright hope of a better future
